SOLO FOR 2
Solo for two is the second solo production in a trilogy in which he explores his own identity in-between with two dancers. In the first solo Blood, he focused on the inside of the body: the cell structures of blood and other fluids; dialoguing with the visual universe of artists Gilbert & George (who collaborated on the project) through interactive technology and projection. Solo for two will focus on the outward journey: how a migratory identity is created by cycles of loss (letting go) and new beginnings In Solo for Two, Jean Abreu will revisit the archive of his dancer’s body, formed in-between different cultures and dance languages. He will dialogue with ‘The Other’, which is either the technology with which we supplement and multiply ourselves or another body that both mirrors and opposes us and through which we may find ourselves. ’And by exploring this Third Space, we may elude the politics of polarity and emerge as the others of ourselves.’ (Homi K. Bhabha, The Location of Culture, 2004, p. 56)
